Care provider, Curaa Group, has successfully acquired Broome End Care Home in Essex.
Care provider, Curaa Group, has successfully acquired Broome End Care Home in Essex. Broome End Care Home has an excellent reputation - the Home won the coveted “Care Home of The Year” and highly commended “Champion of Champions” at the 2019 Prosper Awards for Essex County Council.
The Home provides person-centred care in generously proportioned accommodation, housed in an historic converted Manor House property. The site offers attractive outdoor space including a large terrace overlooking meadows and a state-of-the-art sensory garden.
Curaa Group is a family business, headed by Haris and Amer Khan. They have been involved in the Care Sector since 2015 and are pleased to secure this acquisition. Haris was keen to comment “We are very proud of our amazing team, who recently won Home of the Year at the Essex Care Sector Awards, and we intend to build on this momentum as we go into 2020. Our hope is to become a leading providing of care in Essex and beyond, and we believe Chandler & Co. will be integral in helping us fulfil our ambitions. In particular, I am grateful to Liz who helped guide us through our first purchase, deploying her 20+ years of experience in our favour.”
Liz Woollett of Chandler and Co has been supporting Haris and Amer following a recommendation from another client. Having worked together on several projects since 2018, Liz was able to endorse Curaa Group as a strong buyer and confirm their financial position to the selling agents, securing a prompt viewing with the vendor. Finance for the purchase was negotiated and secured by November 2019 and the experienced team involved worked closely to help deliver the completion a month later in December.
Liz commented “We’ve really enjoyed working to help Curaa Group acquire this business, which is a great opportunity for them. Our clients had a clear idea of the business they sought, and we quickly established their buying power to realise this. As we are continually in touch with business agents, we were pleased to introduce this opportunity to our clients. It's an integral part of our service – we are more than just a finance broker and believe that's what sets us apart from others. We help our clients to find the right businesses and work closely with them through the entire process until they collect the keys. We wish Curaa Group every success and look forward to working together again in the future."
The sale was managed by DC Care’s Senior Sales Negotiator Michelle Natkus and Southern Region Director Andy Sandel, who facilitated a previous transaction for Broome End as part of a former Southern Cross care home portfolio, Andy summarised: “When the time was right for our vendor to consider a discreet disposal of Broome End, it was felt there would be strong interest from a wide variety of parties, as high-quality care facilities with outstanding profitability are that widely sought-after.”
Michelle followed up on Andy’s comments: “Andy and I would like to congratulate Mr Khan in his first care home acquisition. It demonstrates that opportunities still exist for new entrants looking to purchase a care facility, particularly those with the knowledge and experience required in the sector.”
Haris Khan, Managing Director at Curaa Group Ltd added: “Broome End Care Home, Curaa’s first acquisition, recently won Home of the Year at the Essex Care Sector Awards. Thanks to our amazing team I have no doubt we can build on this momentum in 2020. We would like to thank Michelle Natkus of DC Care for using her insight into the care home market to help secure our first home.”
